I can't believe that mine is only the second review of this important book.This is a political rather than an operational or campaigns and battles history of the New Model Army.

Ian Gentiles' book on the New Model Army is not for the faint-hearted or slightly interested; it is a very thorough treatment of a complex subject. If the English Civil War or the Commonwealth are matters of interest to you, this book is packed with information, presented in a dry but very readable fashion.
